Project Summary

TB ISOLATION ROOM

Aodbt approached Arrow Engineering to provide Mechanical design services for retrofitting the existing Isolation Room at the Saskatoon Regional Psychiatric Centre.

Given the fact that the existing system was not designed in adherence of code required of TB isolation rooms, a retrofit was required in order to make the space appropriate. As such, Arrow’s Mechanical team worked to redesign existing systems in adherence within current regulatory codes.

Design work included taking into consideration existing conditions, integration into the existing control system, air flow and alarm monitoring, and life safety considerations.

The construction took place while the facility remained operational; and the majority of the project budget and work required was mechanical retrofit. Our team was required to design to current standards including: CAN/CSA-Z317.13-12 – Infection control during construction, renovation, and maintenance of health care facilities, CSA-Z317.2-15 – Special requirements for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in health care facilities, and CSA Z320- Building Commissioning
