By Leanne Wierenga on October 24, 2016

At Arrow, we continually strive to adapt and innovate – especially in challenging times. We’re thrilled to announce that Arrow was awarded, as one of 19 recipients, the inaugural 2017 Canadian Business Excellence Award for Private Businesses, as awarded by Excellence Canada and PwC Canada; notably, Arrow is the only Albertan company on this years’ list. Recipients of this award demonstrate a strategic approach towards enhancing and measuring customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and a culture of innovation.

“We’re honored to be part of this list of exceptional companies – knowing how much they have achieved in their respective industries” says Greg Burghardt, Arrow’s CEO and President, “especially in the midst of challenging times in Alberta, I am reminded that focus on quality, employee engagement and customer care are what continue to set us apart from our competitors”.

We are pleased to announce that Arrow Engineering has received the honor of ZweigWhite’s Fast Growth Award. The Fast Growth Award is granted to firms who hold the ‘distinction of outpacing the industry significantly with high growth’ among some 100,000 eligible firms throughout North America.

Our growth would not be possible without the dedication of our team members and the loyalty of our valued clients. As we weather uncertain economic conditions, awards like this are indicative of our team’s ability to work collaboratively in pursuit of continued success. Greg Burghardt, President & CEO, explains that “the most strategic part of our growth has been our concerted efforts to hire the ‘best and the brightest’ in our industry. We have extremely accomplished engineers with decades of experience, working right alongside young ‘up-and-comers’. This formula has proved to be very successful for us as we’ve grown and gained market share across all project sectors.”

We are delighted to announce that for the second year in a row, Arrow is amongst ZweigWhite’s ‘Best firms to Work For’, placing 35th among some 100,000 eligible firms throughout North America. The ‘Best Firms to Work For’ list is comprised of a prominent group of firms who maintain exemplary culture, making their people feel valued and performing at the highest levels in comparison to their industry colleagues.

At Arrow, we place great value in our vibrant culture, and especially during uncertain economic conditions, inclusion on this list is an indicator of our stable, happy team. Greg Burghardt, President & CEO notes that “our culture is one of the things we’re most proud of at Arrow, and one of the things that really separates us from our competitors. We started Arrow over ten years ago with a group of six dedicated employees; I’m proud to note that they’re all still working together today. Our employees are huge part of what makes Arrow so successful and our culture so unique.”

We are pleased to announce that Arrow has received the Award of Merit in the ‘Small Firm – Big Impact’ category of the Consulting Engineers of Alberta’s (CEA) annual Showcase Awards for our involvement in the ATCO Gas North Edmonton Operations Centre (NEOC).

“We are excited to have been recognized for our technical and sustainable design contributions of the NEOC Facility,” says Paul Burdett, Senior Vice President, Operations; “this is a great example of our team’s ability to dig in and deliver a collaborative, advanced solution for our clients.”

Arrow’s contribution to the NEOC Facility includes the design of varied specifications for offices, meter calibration and testing labs, and industrial service bays. The innovative design includes the utilization of natural gas based “Absorption” Heat Pumps as part of NEOC’s geothermal system. This technology is relatively new to North America and NEOC is the largest building in Canada to use “Absorption” Heat Pumps. This system results in a reduction in the amount of natural gas required to heat the building, with a corresponding reduction in the carbon dioxide emissions released.

Arrow’s 21st place standing is the result of many things, including an explosive rate of growth since inception ten years ago, our dedicated team members, and our loyal clients.

“It’s an honor for us to be included among those on the Fast Growth 50 List. It means a lot to us to rank alongside some of the finest companies in Alberta” says Greg Burghardt, Arrow’s President & CEO “this win comes down to the contributions of our exceptional team members and loyal clients.”

Just like that, it’s December already.  As is our tradition at this time of year, we take the time to reflect on the past year, and spend quality time with our family and friends. It is in this season, especially, that we are aware of how privileged we are. As is part of our culture at Arrow, we truly believe that it is our responsibility to share our good fortune with our communities and with those in need.

Over the past year, we’ve had the opportunity to give back in a variety of ways to numerous charitable organizations and causes which are near to the hearts of our team members, families, and friends. These contributions have taken the form of donations in-kind, monetary donations, the gift of time and other initiatives. Notably, this year, we are proud to have contributed to Habitat for Humanity, Santa’s Anonymous, Youth Emergency and Support Services, the Edmonton Opera, Pilgrims Hospice, Kids with Cancer and more.

At Arrow, we recognize that our success is dependent on the contributions of our valued team members, colleagues and clients. We’re truly humbled by the loyalty of those who support our team, and by the contributions of our dedicated team members.

We offer you our most sincere thanks, and wish you and your loved ones peace, joy and prosperity this holiday season, and in the year to come. Merry Christmas!

We are happy to share the news that we have again been included amongst those on PSMJ’s “Circle of Excellence” list, released this summer. This circle includes diverse, prominent firms throughout North America who Kate Allen, Director of PSMJ’s AEC Industry Surveys states “…prove that success isn’t necessarily defined by the size of a firm, their practice area, geographic location, or even the markets they serve, but instead  by a strong commitment to solid business practices”.

“We’re excited at another year of inclusion on PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence list. These are the firms we use to benchmark our performance against, so to be included among their ranks really evidences the fact that we’re doing something right, and that people are noticing” says Greg Burghardt, CEO of Arrow Engineering.

As always, we recognize that our success would not be possible without the contributions of our loyal staff, and our valued relationships with clients and industry colleagues. We’d like to take this opportunity to express our most sincere thanks to all of the individuals who have helped us to achieve this significant milestone.
