Continuous Improvement at Arrow

Arrow has been committed to continuous improvement since day one. In fact, when we reviewed our data in 2016, we found that we spent three times the industry average on annual training for our team. In early 2017, in the shadow of a challenging recession, we decided to focus on a key teaching of continuous improvement – Lean thinking. We immersed ourselves in eliminating waste from our work and started on a six-month period of intensive Lean training.

As the world changes rapidly, many organizations are faced with a rate of change that is overwhelming and seemingly insurmountable. The construction industry is recognized as one deeply rooted in tradition, and many within our industry struggle to move on from conventional processes and methodologies. That’s where the Arrow culture comes into play. We don’t like the saying “we’ve always done it this way”. We believe  the best ideas come from unexpected places. Everyone’s voice matters and having a culture that encourages the ongoing development of continuous improvement ideas makes us different.

Our approach to continuous improvement revolves around the idea that we need to step away from the ordinary; something we’ve always believed in at Arrow. We strive to understand what our clients’  value, then find a way to best deliver that value to them.

If you walk into our office, you’ll see the text “great people generate great outcomes” proudly displayed on the wall. We believe that our people are the secret to our success. We consistently have high employee engagement levels and we have an award-winning culture. We know employee engagement both supports and inspires change. We’re blown away by the gains we’ve experienced since we started our continuous improvement program; and just as the name suggests, we can’t wait to continue on the journey of improvement with our team.
